Ever wondered how a five-year-old girl
perceives the world? Then you definitely need to get your hands on THE BOOK, a novella by Jessica Bell.

out these awesome reviews:
"Jessica Bell’s surprising
risks with language capture a child’s clear vision in a world of adult heartbreak.
Indelible. Courageous." ~Thaisa Frank, author of Heidegger's Glasses and Enchantment

"THE BOOK is both heartwarming
and heartbreaking. It's going to rip your blood pump out of your chest, kick it
around like a football, and then shove it back inside you, leaving you with a
potently reinvigorated faith in humanity. A curiously captivating read that
somehow manages to encapsulate the length and breadth of love and family in one
slim volume." ~Josh Donellan, author of Zeb and the Great Ruckus

Here's the blurb:
This book
is not The Book. The Book is in this book. And The Book in this book is both
the goodie and the baddie.

Bonnie is five. She wants to bury The Book because it is a demon that should go
to hell. Penny, Bonnie’s mother, does bury The Book, but every day she digs it
up and writes in it. John, Bonnie’s father, doesn’t live with them anymore. But
he still likes to write in it from time to time. Ted, Bonnie’s stepfather,
would like to write in The Book, but Penny won’t allow it.

To Bonnie, The Book is sadness.

To Penny, The Book is liberation.

To John, The Book is forgiveness.

To Ted, The Book is envy.

But The Book in this book isn’t what it seems at all.

If there was one thing in this world you wished you could hold in your hand,
what would it be? The world bets it would be The Book.

Hello friends!

Today I am reviewing the fantastic paranormal fantasy romance thriller, Breaking the Nexus by the talented Lindsay Avalon. Lindsay is an exceptional writer as well as a good friend. Breaking the Nexus is available for purchase on Amazon!

Throughout history, myths and legends of extraordinary creatures have been told and retold. Fantastic tales of demons and banshees, gryphons and dragons, and of course, magic. Stories that every child grows to learn are nothing more than fantasy…or are they?

Beyond the world you see lies a hidden realm, the Mythrian Realm, inhabited by all of the creatures you’ve been told are mere fiction. Only one thing lies between humans and the truth: the Nexus. A magical barrier erected millennia ago to separate the two realms, it has stood the test of time. Until now.

For Mythrian Sha Phoenix, magic is nothing new. But when she stumbles upon a portal on the verge of collapse, her fate will forever change. Pulled through the portal into the Human Realm, she lands in the middle of Detective Connor Flynn’s brutal murder scene. Soon it is obvious someone is using blood magic to try to bring down the Nexus. Together, Connor and Sha must work to unravel the secrets before the barrier falls and the realms collide.

The Nexus is breaking and all hell is about to unleash…literally.

Without further adieu, let's get right to my review of this AWESOME book!

An AMAZING tale, I loved every word!

There is a world that lies next to ours, a world where magic is as natural as breathing. This world is called the Mythrian Realm, home to beasts of legend; banshees, gryphons, demons and dragons to name a few. Separating our world and the Mythrian Realm is a barrier known as the Nexus. But there is a problem...the Nexus is breaking down, things are slipping through, Sha Phoenix for one.

Sha is a sorceri who lands in the middle of a murder scene in Denver, Colorado. She is beautiful and sexy as well as a strong heroine with a lot of spirit and grit. It is here that she meets the strikingly handsome detective, Connor Flynn. Together they must figure out why the Nexus is breaking down, while battling a mysterious creature known as Nightmare.

At the same time Flynn is trying to maintain a professional relationship between his suspect/witness and his duty as a police officer while doing his damn best to ignore the unexplainable emotional and physical attraction he has for Sha.

This had a great storyline with threads of sensual heat dribbled out like honey, giving you a teasing taste of what is to come between Sha and Connor. It is steady, but never overdone, just the right amount of sexual burn.

The words have an instant flow, pulling you along like a boat in a current. The current at times seems even and steady, but then the action picks up and you feel as if you are heading for a waterfall. There are some stories you may read where the writing will have parts equivalent to a swampy bog and you are struggling to get through it. Breaking the Nexus had none of this. None! It was a great read from beginning to end.

There is one other person I would like to mention because it is so rare that a supporting character is perfectly done. Connor's best friend and partner Ian is so grounded that you feel comfortable that what you see is what you get. No hidden agendas or wishy-washy whimpering about the things Connor is involved in. The bond between them is strong and makes you wonder what the author has in store for us in regards to this friendship, for Lindsay Avalon has us solidly believing one way, and with a single sentence could so easily manipulate us. That my friend is great writing!

Breaking the Nexus was a pleasure to read, from the first page to the last. Lindsay Avalon has woven a tale that makes it seem entirely plausible that a magical world can exist right next to ours. Read this story, you will be glad you did. And at the end, you will feel as I did; Lindsay Avalon needs to finish the sequel, because we hunger for more! :D

Lindsay Avalon:

I am a wife, a programmer, and now an author. I have an adorable mini Schnauzer and more books than I have room for. I love reading romance because no matter what may be happening in my life, I can always count on my books to end happily ever after. The day I met my husband was the day I truly began believing in happily ever after. After hearing me complain a few too many times that I had “nothing” to read despite the hundreds of paperbacks scattered around the house, my husband began suggesting I write my own stories. When I finally took his advice I discovered that although I enjoy my day job as a software engineer, my true calling is to be an author.
My sister drilled into me an appreciation for fantasy and mythology, something I try to bring to my books. My d├ębut novel, Breaking the Nexus started as a book written for NaNoWriMo and has grown to so much more. It was the conduit that introduced me to a fantastic group of independent authors who have changed my life in unimaginable ways.
When I'm not writing, I've found a passion for blogging and interviewing fellow authors. I also love reading (of course!), baking, crochet, sewing sock monkeys, playing video games, and all sorts of random crafts. I have an incurable love of rubber duckie’s and stuffed animals, and I believe nobody should have to grow up if they don’t want.

Welcome friends to the next stop on the Riven Blog Tour!!

Welcome friends to the next stop on the Riven Blog Tour!!

Today I am showcasing the amazing Illumine series by Alivia Anders!! The third book in the series, Riven, is set for release on Dec.7.

This series has angels, demons, magic; all the ingredients to make a spectacular supernatural thriller! It was my great honor to offer a review for the first book in the series, Illumine. I went into it totally blind, with no knowledge of the characters or its storyline, which is how I wanted it. As it turned out the story caught me by surprise (in a good way) by its subject matter. It is a story as old as the Bible but told in a way I have never read before. It was totally fresh and new. If you have any knowledge of Nephilim, you will know of what I speak.

Alivia Anders is a fantastic writer and her books are a delight to read. You will find her world exciting and engaging, becoming a part of it as you turn the pages.
I would now like to give you my review of her first book Illumine. I hope you buy it and read it, and you will get as much pleasure as I did I am sure of it. Thank you for stopping by!

Review for Illumine:

What an AMAZING ride!!

Illumine had me right out of the starting gate, grabbing me by throat and never letting go. At times I found myself 'on the edge of my seat', certain something was going to happen to catch me unawares. Alivia Anders has woven a tale, that once you are caught in its web of words, there is little you can do except let the spider pull you in.

The heroine, Essallie Henley, finds herself thrust into a world she didn't even know existed. After watching a demon eat the heart of her boyfriend, Essallie's world as a simple teenager ends, while the life as an extra-ordinary being begins. Essallie is very unique kind of person, but I will say no more, except to say this is a strong heroine and I loved her from the start, cheering her on as her story unfolds.

Enter Kayden - killer of Essallie's boyfriend, mentor of sorts to Essallie's changing...condition, and seemingly the only person who has answers to her many questions of who and what she is. Kayden is a complex character (you will love him, or at times maybe hate him). His character is deep and well developed. You are never completely sure if you totally believe what he is saying at any given time. You want to believe him, but then you think, "Is this the time. Is this the time he betrays her, or will he save her. This character was sculpted in words by a master, and her name is Alivia Anders.

I was sad when the story ended, but luckily for me, the second book is in print and I will be continuing on with Essallie and her journey. You should begin yours with this first book in The Illumine Series. It is a ride you will not want to end!!
